- Scientists study biomechanics and the basic science behind athletic injuries.
- Researches write journals and their peers read over the information. They also have national meetings to discuss their research.
- Scientists study the characteristic changes of the muscles, because muscles tend to be smaller after they are torn, due to lack of use.
- Sports medical researches use new novel biomechanic tools to evaluate the patterns in which the injuries occur and reconstruction of the muscles.

Long Term effects
Most muscle tears heal without complication within a number of weeks but they can also result in longer-term effects. Depending on the extent of damage. When the muscle is torn the structures around the injury may also be injured as well. These injuries may delay sports. It can also result in a tight or weakened muscle that can be prone to re injury if the tear was not diagnosed and not taken care of.

How should you prevent a muscle tear?
- A well balanced, nutrient rich diet will help prevent a muscle tear.
- Consuming a high amount of carbohydrates 48 before rigorous activity may help because, they'll give your body the energy it needs. And some high-carb foods also are rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, which are important for maintaining tissue strength.
- You can also take nutritional supplements such as chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, N-acetylglucosamine, vitamin C, zinc, silica, manganese and free form amino acids to help strengthen the tendons and muscles.
- Properly warming up before exercise or other physical activities will also help you prevent muscle tears.

What causes mucles tears?
What actually causes muscle tears?
The most common way a muscle can be injured is motions, simply doing housework can cause a tear. But there are other ways as well including:
Falls: A fall can cause muscle damage upon landing. A severe contusion or bruise can occur when blood vessels burst upon impact.
Slips: Acute muscle tear often occurs in the back or legs when a person slips as the body is twisted or stretched to a greater than normal degree.
Collisions: When the tissue is struck with force or heavy or hard objects is can be ruptured.
They may be caused by blows from moving objects.
Cuts: Cuts that are deep enough to wound or tear muscle tissue can be caused by accidental injury.
Weight and force stress: Damage can occur when lifting too heavy a weight or using a muscle beyond it's capacity, for example: overstretching during a reach or jump.
Repetitive stress: Develops when a muscle is used for the same movements very frequently in a day or continually over time.

Skeletal Muscle
- Skeletal muscle is a highly durable tissues that helps you perform everyday activities, such as walking, breathing, etc.
- Most skeletal muscle injuries occur during sports.
- When the muscle is actually torn or ripped away from the tendon, it is called an avulsion. This can be caused by extreme force or muscle overload.
- Symptoms of an avulsion include extreme pain and loss of function in the injured area.
- Treatment for an avulsion will sometimes involve surgery to reattach the muscle to the tendon. You can also take anti-inflammatory drugs to help the swelling. You may also have to participate in physical therapy to build muscles and be able to do everyday tasks. The physical therapy exercises aim to build strength and regain motion in muscles. In the first two weeks of physical therapy, you should notice a big improvement, but it will take 6-8 weeks for full recovery and take months to regain the muscle mass of the injured spot due to lack of use of the muscle.

Neck muscle tear
Neck muscle tear is an injury to the muscles and tendons that support and move the head and neck. The neck can be easily injured because it is capable of an extensive range of motion and less stable. The neck contains important structures including the airway, the spinal cord, and the blood vessels. But they are typically not involved when the neck is injured. Seeing a doctor is very important when you have a neck muscle tear, even if it's not too serouis or life-threatening.
